WINTER PROMENADE
|
As the name suggests, this promenade is specially recommended for walks in the cooler months because it is very sunny and sheltered from the wind.
A gem of historic architecture along this path is the “Wandelhalle, a covered colonnade built in 1889, where spa guests used to sit and stroll in the open air, while protected from the weather. Spa concerts were also held here sometimes. You can admire a series of paintings of South Tyrolean views, and a hall of fame in the centre with busts and plaques commemorating people who contributed to the success of the spa. In 1864, the Winter Promenade was extended to the ancient bridge known as the “Steinerner Steg", to provide direct access for guests from Obermais.
