Ice skating

Skating is one of most popular sports amongst Merano locals. The main point of reference is the modern Meranarena facility, where there is an indoor ice rink and an outdoor skating ring

An Ice Rink For All

The Meranarena is located on Via Palade in Maia Bassa (Untermais), near the horseracing track, just a few minutes walk from the centre and easily accessible via public transport. From the beginning of August to early April, the indoor ice rink is home to winter sports of various kinds, and the facility is open to the public for skating; hockey matches, curling tournaments and figure skating competitions also take place here. The outdoor skating ring, a meeting point for many Merano locals, is frequented by skaters of all ages from November to March; in the other months, there is inline skating.

Skating in the City Centre

When the Christmas Market is running, between late November and early January, there is also skating in the city centre: a ring is set up at Piazza Terme that offers views of the Kurhaus and the Passer Promenade, all dressed up for Advent.
