The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
Recommended for families
Where art and nature come together: The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle comprise more than eighty garden landscapes with plants from all over the globe, all nestled into a natural amphitheatre that comprised twelve hectares. Highlights of the botanical gardens include its unique Experience Stations, ten Artist Pavilions, the spectacular Viewing Platform created by renowned architect Matteo Thun, and the Forbidden Garden.
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle was named Italy’s Most Beautiful Garden in 2005. Just a year later, the botanical gardens made Europe’s Top Ten Gardens list, voted number six. From the splendid spring blooming of thousands upon thousands of tulips to the intoxicating colours of November’s fall foliage, Trauttmansdorff is truly Merano’s main attraction.
Musical and culinary highlights of the garden season include: the sublime Breakfast at Sissi’s brunch series, the Garden Nights summer concert series featuring the finest in world music, the Dinnertime at Trauttmansdorff events on summer Fridays with music and entertainment continuing until 11:00 p.m. Other noteworthy options include classic guided tours, tours for families, workshops for schoolchildren, and the fall package, which includes a wine tasting.
